Why we moved from a SaaS cart to self-hosted Okommerce

After three years on a hosted platform we hit a wall on transaction fees and data ownership. We moved to the Okommerce Community Edition, self-hosted on our own Windows Server, and the difference is night and day — no per-order cut and we own the SQL database outright. The setup wizard had us live in an afternoon. Happy to answer questions if anyone is considering the same.

This matches our experience exactly. The transaction fee on our old platform was quietly eating ~2% of revenue. Owning the source is the real win for us.

How did the catalogue migration go? We have ~12k SKUs and I'm nervous about the import.

@Fatima the xlsx importer handled 5k+ rows for us without duplicating categories. Map your Category/Subcategory/Item Type columns and it builds the tree automatically. Do a dry-run on the preview step first.
